Citywide Pride was founded in June of 2002 when a small band of volunteers from four Chicago area companies (Accenture, Bank One, CNA and Quaker/PepsiCo) marked Pride Month by hosting a series of panel discussions and presentations on LGBTQ+-related topics for employees.

Since its founding, dozens of companies have hosted nearly 200 free events that have attracted more than 15,000 participants. Though the issues for LGBTQ+ workers and their employers have changed over the years, Citywide Pride continues to raise awareness, to educate, to share best practices, and to engage others in addressing the unique challenges for LGBTQ+ workers.

Today and into the future, Citywide Pride will continue its commitment to empowering individuals, companies and organizations in the achievement of their LGBTQ+ diversity and inclusion goals that ensure both personal and business success. Citywide Pride is a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization.
